Ericksonian-based Experiential (video)
Overcoming Obstacles through Non-Duality + Timeline Repair
I recently had the opportunity to create this talk for Verca Portikova’s Kung Fu Academic after we met as speakers at ICSP 2026. I’m posting the recording here as it is a helpful introduction to Neo-Ericksonian techniques for anyone interested in personal growth and actualization. It comes out of my ongoing exploration of how we experience and organize reality—especially the subtle ways awareness, relationship, and perception interact beneath the surface of everyday life.
The video covers an Ericksonian “Both-And” technique learned from Stephen Gilligan, PhD. Additionally, there is an Ericksonian timeline repair exercise. Each of these exercises stand on their own and can also be used separately. Those familiar with NLP may notice similarities in the timeline exercise.
Erickson’s method was foundational to the formation of Neurolinguistic Programming, alongside pioneering family therapist Virginia Satir and Gestalt therapy founder Fritz Perls. My mentor, Dr. Gilligan, was also involved in NLP’s beginnings. In addition to training with Milton Erickson, he studied under Karl Pribam (his work often cited as one of the pillars for the “holographic universe” theory) and Gregory Bateson (polymath of cybernetics, which he saw epistemologically as the study of “the pattern that connects.”
